Motion to apply for the Canada Emergency Business Account interest-free loan.
This federal government program provides interest-free loans of up to $60,000 to small businesses and not-for-profits. Repaying the balance of the loan on or before December 31, 2022 will result in loan forgiveness of up 33 percent (up to $20,000).
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Alberta Invasive Species Council (AISC) has lost several sources of critical core funding such as the proceeds from our casino fundraiser, which was scheduled to take place in August of 2020 but was cancelled due to public health restrictions. The AISC would like to apply for the Canadian Emergency Business Account interest-free loan to help cover core administrative expenses. The AISC has reserved funds in our ‘rainy day’ account, which can be accessed to repay the loan if other sources of revenue have not been secured by the loan repayment deadline.
